Today I posted on my Facebook page: "Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Day and Inauguration Day Kinkies! Isn't it apropos for this year's inauguration day to be on the same day that we observe MLK day? I would say YES!!"
Kinkies, today is quite a wonderful day. Not only is it the day on which we're observing the birth of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it is also the day that we celebrate our 44th president, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, during the 57th inaugural ceremony.
I, unfortunately, could not attend the inauguration; however, I sit here, watching, in my living room, as history is made once again. Our 44th president, the 57th inaugural ceremony... continued history in the making (my tears are flowing, my heart is filled with pride). So many people probably wished that this day wouldn't come, while others possibly didn't believe it would ever [come]. But it HAS Kinkies!!! It surely has!
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., along with others FOUGHT for THIS day to happen and I think that's why so many of us may be filled with pride, hope, and happiness as we watch the president being sworn in and listen to his speech. How proud am I to know that a man of African American descent is smart, willing, and powerful enough to handle the role as President of the United States?!? VERY PROUD!! As I grew up, I didn't think that we would ever be able to see a black man in the office. So I darn sure didn't think that me and my daughter would have the opportunity to live through such a historic moment, vote for such a worthy man (yup, she was in the voting booth and pressed that button), and see him being sworn in TWICE! God is surely good and I can't contain my pride!
Our young men and women have a restored sense of pride today. We have a positive BLACK image, leading our country, showing that we are more than what the news portrays us as. We are showing that the "DREAM" that Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had can and will come true. We can see that we're getting to the point of being considered equal and not fully judged off of the complexion of our skin, or the blood that flows through our veins. It's a progression Kinkies, for which I'm proud of, and continue to look forward to.
Now, let's see about getting a female president... my daughter already made that HER goal! And I, Kinky Kinetik, support (and approve) that message! :-)Feelfree to also check me out on Facebook, Kinky Kinetik, Twitter, Tweet Kinky and YT, KinkyKinetik.
~Keep it Kinky~
I enjoyed watching history being made, once again! I really wish I could have went.
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed that I was not able to make it; however, I was in his presence, partially, when he came to NJ a few years back.
