I've been on this sort of health kick. Rather, I kicked up my previous health kick. Part of my overall health and well-being is attributed to the smoothies that I drink. I've added things like flax seed, chia seeds, supplements, honey, and more to my smoothies. Recently, I was sent a bag of Sari Food's Organic Spirulina Powder.
Given that I don't eat meat, I need a good source of protein. The powder is noted to be a natural source of protein, calcium, vitamin B12, iron, magnesium, selenium, chlorophyll, and other plant nutrients.
It is DARK green and smells "planty." At first, I was like there was no way in hell that I could drink it. You know that feeling you get when you base something off of looks or smell? Yeah, that's how I felt. Despite the fact that I've stomached a few things in the name of good health.
After mixing frozen cherries with a huge peach and almond milk, this right here is what I was left with... two and one half cups actually.
Just like a big girl, I drank it and surprisingly, it didn't taste as it smells or looks. I drank down those two and one half cups of my smoothie and was on my way. If you want to sweeten up the taste, I would consider using honey, sweet fruit, and/or agave. Would I use it again? Yup! I did already. I tried an amazing mix of banana and half of a baked sweet potato. Yum! I intend to use the entire bag because like I said, I can use the added nutrients, specifically the protein.
