Product Review - The Pomade Shop

Hey Kinkies.  As you may know, I'm starting to embrace the use of pomades on me and my daughter's hair.  I have been given the opportunity to review two pomades from The Pomade Shop.  As with all of my reviews, I started this review on freshly shampooed hair.  I used an Ayurvedic shampoo bar that I recently won.

What's In The Pomade Shop's Products?

Sweet Indulgence Styling Pomade (Amaretto): Soy wax, cocoa butter, castor oil, grapeseed oil, wheat germ oil, avocado oil, and  vitamin E oil.

Growth Foundations Peppermint Pomade (Vanilla Scent): Coconut oil, castor oil, emu oil, sulfur and peppermint oil.  

What's your first impression of  The Pomade Shop Kinky?  I am one for scents.  The amaretto scented Styling Pomade smelled just like an Amaretto Sour; however, the vanilla pomade smelled more of sulfur than vanilla or any of the other ingredients.  The beau mentioned that the amaretto scented pomaded smelled like cherry candy. After smelling it again, I can definitely make that connection.

The Growth Foundations reminds me of hair grease, with regards to texture and semi-melted petroleum jelly, with regards to how it looks.  As for the Sweet Indulgence, the texture is thick, as it appears on The Pomade Shop's website. 

I applied the pomades to our wet hair to start.  I used the Growth Foundations on me and my daughter's scalp as a hair grease.  Although sulfur is supposed to aid in hair growth, I have not used this product long enough to support it's claim of hair growth.  It did bring me back to when I had to use Sulfur 8 on my niece's hair when she was little... me and my daughter's hair smelled just like sulfur.  The smell did dissipate after while; however, if you don't want to go out smelling like sulfur, use it at night while getting your hair ready for bed.  I would have liked to use this pomade a bit longer as I truly wanted to see if hair growth would result with continued use.  As for the Styling Pomade, I used that to aid in styling my daughter's two ponytails that she wore for the week.  On my hair, I used it to do a bunch of twists.

I will add that I loved how soft our hair was... especially mine.  The pomades were not too thick and they were not sticky feeling at all.  When I spritzed water on my daughter's hair and applied the Styling Pomade, it did a good job laying her edges down when smoothed with my palms (I don't use brushes).

Here's a picture of the back of my daughter's hair... apparently the front picture is MIA.  This is an after-school picture... normally her hair looks 10X more wild than what it is here (thanks to the playground and gym).  Based on the results, I am definitely pleased with the results.  The fly-aways in the picture are NOTHING compared to what I've previously seen!

Here's my twist-out on day one.  It's defined and soft...  The proceeding pictures are days three and four of a twist-out.  The multi-pineappling kinda of worked...  I actually liked the big hair look.

All in all, I liked the results.  I was expecting the styling Pomade not to work given the texture of it; however, it did.  I was extremely pleased at the softness of my hair as some products may be heavy and weight it down.
