Product Review - Silky Wraps

Hey Kinkies.  As most, if not all, of you already know, our tresses should be protected with satin and/or silk nightly.  Whether we use a bonnet, scarf, wrap, pillowcase, or a combination of two or more of the items mentioned, we need to protect our tresses with SOMETHING!  


I have been given the opportunity to review a girl's hair bonnet from Silky Wraps.  

What's the bonnet from Silky Wraps made of?

As per the website, the exterior of the bonnet is made of cotton and polyester.  It is lined with high quality satin.  

What's your first impression of the bonnet from Silky Wraps Kinky?  I think it's totally cute and effective.  The butterfly print is just right for my little princess.  It is cute and colorful, not like the dull black or brown bonnets that some of us may get at the beauty supply store and/or other stores such as Target, Walmart, etc.


The wrap is $19.99.  While some may find it expensive, in thinking of how many of those cheaper bonnets you may buy in a year or two, you kind of make out better with the Silky Wraps bonnet.  At least that's my opinion.  The other bonnets eventually lose their elasticity, may stretch, and the time it takes going back and forth to the store (wasting gas and possibly buying stuff you really don't need), I think this is a better option.  The bonnet is adjustable to fit different head sizes.  It comes with a ribbon (ours was pink) inside of the rim.  You can use the ribbon to tie it as tightly as you find comfortable; however, you can also take the ribbon out and wear the bonnet as is.  Now, to get to whether or not it really stays on your head, even given the ribbon that used to tie it securely...

Well, this bonnet was princess tested, and Kinky approved... but not at first.  So let me explain...

My daughter cannot seem to keep a bonnet on her head while sleeping.  I would be lucky if it doesn't come of every night of the week.  With that said, I'm fine with the fact that she claimed my satin pillowcase as her own.  Even though we use the pillowcase for her, I still like to cover her hair at night with the bonnet.  

I did tie the ribbon as tight as could be tolerated (no, I wasn't attempting to cut off her circulation - before someone thinks the extreme).  I tied it so that it would be secure but not too tight that she would have a line across her head and a crazy headache.  I must admit, the bonnet DID come off a few times.  I wondered if it was really worth it.  Then, I used it.  

I did not want to give up on the bonnet and I kind of felt that it came off, to no fault of the bonnet, but just because of how she sleeps.  When I tried it, it did not come off.  It did shift, but that's nothing as my tresses were still protected.  I used it once use to cover my big puff and it just barely covered my entire head; however, I then remembered that this is a kid's bonnet so I couldn't be but so mad.  Overall, it did what it was supposed to do... just as long as I don't attempt to cover this huge puff of mine.

I will definitely be using this bonnet again.
